Exclusive live concert of the Lynne Arriale Trio broadcast on FNL

Join us on Friday 13th June (8-10pm) to hear an exclusive live recording of one of the world’s most gifted jazz pianists – Lynne Arriale. The team of Friday Night Live is excited to broadcast her concert recorded in the Netherlands featuring Steve Davis on drums and Jay Anderson on bass. The concert is available to ArtSound FM courtesy of Radio Netherlands.

Arriale has been described as playing the piano with such creativity, decisiveness, energy and seal, it would have been mistaken as the playing of a man had her occasional, sumptuous “lipstick” whispery touch not been simmering softly through.

She has been studying since the age of four, eventually earning a masters degree in piano performance before turning to jazz. She developed a singular voice as a composer, leader and pianist through her compeling originals known for their heartfelt, folkloric quality, and her reinventions of pop classics.

She is currently assistant professor of Jazz Piano and Director of the Jazz Combo Program at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. The Lynne Arriale trio now performs internationally and celebrates its tenth anniversary with Come Together, its ninth CD release.

Friday Night Live features live performances from the ArtSound recording studios and pre-recorded concerts from venues around the Canberra region including the God’s Café, Canberra Southern Cross Club, the Street Theatre as well as some of the world’s top festivals. You’ll hear interviews with band members and news of the latest jazz gigs around Canberra.

Tune in every Friday night to hear the best Australian and international talent on offer!
